About the Position

Varberga and Oxhagen youth centers are now seeking youth leaders for permanent positions. The positions are 100%. As a youth leader with us, you will work in the open and organized youth center and club activities. You will engage children and youth in participation and influence, motivating them to take their own initiatives, develop their interests, and take responsibility for themselves and others. To provide children and youth with opportunities for good leisure time and support for personal responsibility, we see associations, study associations, parents, and other municipal activities as important partners. We are part of the Keks network, which means that follow-up and quality development are central areas of focus.

Evening and weekend work is included in the position. The position will be based at either Varberga or Oxhagen youth center, but since the youth centers are part of the VOX unit, this means that you may also be required to work at the other facility when needed.

Examples of Responsibilities:

• Stimulate the development of youth and children and create conditions for a good social environment
• Plan, implement, and evaluate the youth center's activities from a promoting perspective
• Work towards area development and collaborate with the civil society
• Stay updated on current research in your field
• Work with the participation and influence of children and youth

About the Workplace

Varberga youth center is one of nine youth centers organized under Youth Recreation, Culture, and Leisure Administration. Varberga youth center is located in its own premises in Varberga center. We have five permanent employees and several part-time employees responsible for the operations. We are currently in temporary premises in Varberga center but will move into our new meeting place, which will be a hub and gathering point in Varberga, at the beginning of 2027.

Oxhagen youth center is located in the Oxhagen residential area, where we have five permanent employees and several part-time employees responsible for the operations. In Oxhagen, we have a large network of various municipal actors and associations. Together, we create comfort and safety in the area by organizing various events aimed at all residents of our area.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in working with children and youth. To succeed in this role, you should have good collaboration skills and the ability to initiate and complete new activities. It is also important that you enjoy meeting different types of individuals and thrive in a flexible work situation. The position requires the ability to communicate and collaborate with children/youth, staff, and guardians.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• Youth leader education or other pedagogical post-secondary education deemed equivalent by the employer
• Documented leadership experience in youth activities

Meritorious:

• Driving license B
